Do you wonder why the Bay Area is so expensive? Why do people in the hottest job market in the country have a hard time finding a home? You know displacement and gentrification are prevalent, but do you know why it happens? The Bay Area is experiencing an affordability and displacement crisis of epic proportions – and we’re going to explain why.
The Housing Action Coalition (HAC) believes that more housing choices mean better solutions for all people. Relying on our member’s expertise, we’ve put together an hourlong program called “Bay Area Housing 101.” We’ll explain why this issue is so important, some history that led us to the problems of today and the solutions that will make for a better tomorrow.
This format is set up for lunchtime or after work group sessions for companies and organizations of any size. Here’s what people are saying:
“HAC’s presentation on Bay Area Housing 101 was incredibly helpful for our staff in better understanding the current housing situation, how we got here, and where we we can go from here.”
– Megan from Zendesk
“Housing is one of the most discussed, debated, and hotly contested issues in San Francisco. It’s also very complex. Housing 101 breaks the housing issue into digestible components so that everyone, whether they’re new to the housing issue or already well-versed, can understand how we got here and what our paths forward may be.”
– Efrem from Code For America
